TOTHAS

The Top of The Horse and Stables

The Top of The Horse and Stables (TOTHAS) is our longest running regular event and is a true gem among South London’s singer-songerwriter gatherings. The nights feature five musicians, a mixture of both talented youngsters and experienced rock-and-rollers. Each occasion brings someone special to stage with visiting/foreign artists and outstanding professional performers frequently appearing on listings.

Only £5.00 Entry on the Door!

All profits are distributed among performers at the end of each night. At one pound an act, the entry fee worth every penny! The room is comfortably filled on every event, the atmosphere is warm and laid back and the acts are always exceptionally well executed regardless of experience level…

Original Songs and Real Talents

After the traditional opening session by performer/organizer Moykal O'Bui, the nights proceed with four more performances. Each occasion brings someone new to the stage, but there are Covers are hardly heard around here, most musicians perform original songs, written and composed by them. TOTHAS has no “genre” the most various of styles can be heard, ranging from modern acoustic melodies via folk, electronic pop, to feet-tapping punk rock and the quirkiest of uncategorizable musical poetry…

The Longest Running H&S Event

TOTHAS nights been taking stage at The H&S Function Room since 2010... TOTHAS is curated, organised and hosted by veteran London musician Moykal O’Bui of Boysterous Sounds. Each night kicks off with a lively performance by him, on occasions also accompanied by fellow musicians and special guests. Regardless the many events performed, the start-up performance never seems to run out new and favourite tunes.

After 6 years of bringing us awesome gigs, The H&S wesbite now has a Dedicated TOTHAS Page. Check it out for next gig info, read about upcoming performers and more... You can and should also like/follow Boysterous Sounds on Facebook for first-hand gig dates and announcements, and for the sake of community mingle! Morley's Jam Sessions

Public Jam Session by Morley Students!

In this free, public Jam Session talented music students from Morley College play together some jazz standards and some other funk and soul tunes they’ve learned. The lively happening takes place at our upstairs Function Room with stage. An opportunity for the novice musicians to try their wings in front of an audience, a blessing to jazz lovers for a week night well spent… Everyone wins!

Professional Musicians

The event is hosted by professional musicians (who also lecture at Morley) who usually warm up the event with some serious standards. The students are also outstanding, and the night often turns into one giant, loud jazz-craze… If you are interested in getting a bit more involved than just enjoying the tunes over a pint of lager, this is your night to shine! All are welcome to join in the music!

Polyphony Down The Pub

Baroque Singing & Beer!

A most exciting singing and drinking event for Londoners…

“Founded by Kevin O’Neill, the very first PDtP session took place in October 2014. Inspired by a klezmer music session that he had attended in a King’s Cross pub, O’Neill wanted to try out a similar evening of Renaissance choral music. After all, if a bunch of disparate musicians could get together to play specialist folk music in a pub, why couldn’t a bunch of singers do the same with specialist choral music?

Polyphony Down the Pub is an evening of music-making for anyone who wants to get together with felloe singing enthusiasts to sing the great choral pieces of the High Renaissance – plus a few Bach chorales thrown in for good measure – in the informal and relaxed atmosphere of a pub.

Register for a session via the links on their website, download the sheet music in advance, print it out (or better yet, save it to a tablet) and then just turn up on the night to sing – simple as that.”
